Heavy Weather

Despite heavy weather, an enthusiastic team of concerned citizens was once again proudly navigating on the troubled waters of the canal.
The first volunteers to touch water were two mates from Brussels and Coventry. As relentless as captain Ahab on their tiny Pequod, they hunted the trash everywhere they could find it.
The second campaign we launched consisted of a fleet of four kayaks. A West Vlaams family took up two Canal It Up vessels while our esteemed allies from Sea Shepherd cruised the black styxy waters of the canal aboard their own inflatable boats.
It was at this point that all hell broke loose and it would have taken the expressionism of a painter like Gericault to capture the heroism of our proud sailors fishing out trash in the storm.

The sunny pictures are from a second day of fishing for trash longer ago.
