Summer is the perfect occasion to get out on the water and clean up trash. That’s also what Sethupathy and his friend, Erik and his son and Charlotte with her friends thought. During their trip they saved some plastic trash from ending up in the sea.
We also had the pleasure of receiving Virginie and her team from Denuo, the federation of recycling and waste management companies. We had a very interesting talk about waste management and in particular the deposit system. Although our views were not completely the same, we all hope to soon witness a society with less throwaway and environmental pollution.
Next were Marijn and his colleagues from UNIQLO Europe . They also witnessed the visible pollution in the canal of way too much single-use in our society. Less visible is the climate pollution from fast fashion production and the enormous amount of microfibers (microplastics) of synthetic clothing ending up in our waterways and oceans. We hope this experience will inspire Uniqlo as a fashion brand to work around these issues as well.
